Welcome! I am an Assistant Professor of Rural Sociology at The Pennsylvania State University. My research interrogates how policy environments and social institutions reflect and reproduce inequities in health, well-being, and life chances. My scholarship has received funding support from the Russell Sage and Gates Foundations and has been published in peer-reviewed outlets including Social Forces, Demography, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Science & Medicine, and International Migration Review, among others.Â
My current research:
explores the role of the U.S. immigration policy patchwork in shaping immigrant integration
uncovers inequities in the structure and delivery of U.S. health care, particularly across U.S. states
investigates how educational and occupational attainment affect the health and economic well-being of immigrants across the socioeconomic/"skills" spectrum
